Today we went to the sea,
gazed upon white caps, listened to
waves slap one upon another.
Sprays of foam kissed our cheeks. The great
undulating thing in grays
and blues.
"The ocean is vast"
I say to Buckley.
"the lake, I mean."
He's too busy plotting the takedown
of a fly to notice my
mistake.
